Hit Tower Defense Game Credits Innovative Design and Frequent Updates for Its Eight-Months-and-Counting Position on the iPhone Top 100 US Apps Chart

Ninja Kiwi, a leading developer and publisher of web and smart phone games, and Digital Goldfish, a leading developer of smart phone and handheld games, today announced that Bloons TD4 has surpassed one-million downloads across Apple’s iPhone and iPad platforms.

Originally developed by Ninja Kiwi as a flash game for ninjakiwi.com, Bloons Tower Defense 4 has the huge variety of towers, tracks, and play modes necessary to satisfy gamers, but it also blends that strategic play with the family-friendly antics of a legion of monkeys doing their best to pop near-endless waves of invading Bloons. “We love strategy games, and BTD4 was built to be one of the best strategy games possible,” says Chris Harris, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Ninja Kiwi. “But we also wanted to make a game that our kids and families would enjoy, and that blend of humor and fun has helped the flash franchise see over 500 million plays on the web.”

The iOS version, developed by Digital Goldfish and co-designed by Ninja Kiwi, offers the same mix of characters, fun, and strategy, but it also offers exclusive tracks, challenge modes, high resolution graphics, and the immersion of touch control. Bloons TD4 iOS also boasts more than 10 major updates since its launch in December 2010. A brand new tower, power upgrades, multiple new maps, and several new game modes, including the recent Challenge Mode with iOS-exclusive challenge tracks and badges, have all been added since the game launched, and the vast majority of the updates are completely free. “The exclusive iOS features are a big reason to love Bloons TD4 on your iPhone or iPad,” says David Hamilton, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Digital Goldfish. “The updates are the big reason to keep loving it. We aim for an update every 2 to 3 weeks, and we have tons more planned. Player reviews consistently call out the hours and hours of gameplay available and the great value for money.”

Bloons TD4 iPhone launched in the US at #1 in strategy games, #6 in all games, and #7 in all apps, and the iPhone game has remained in the top 100 all apps US and top 50 games US ever since its launch. Breaking down the one-million downloads, Hamilton and Harris indicated that iPhone/iPod Touch accounts for over 90% of the volume, and that the game has had well over 4 million updates downloaded. “With many more updates planned,” said Harris, “we hope players keep enjoying all the new gameplay and even better value in Bloons TD4 for a long time to come.”
