We’re a mission-driven team based in Dunedin building rich experiences to help learner drivers achieve each stage of their drivers licence — and to further develop a mastery of driving skills, which will serve them for the rest of their lives.
About the Communications and UI Designer role:
We’re looking for a stellar Communications and UI Designer to design rich and engaging experiences which produce quantifiable improvements in driver skill level within our driving programmes. In this role you’ll work closely with the Gfactor founder, customer team, and development team across Gfactor, to deliver immersive, engaging and excitingly-effective driving experiences. If you’re driven by making a real-world difference with technology we want to hear from you.
Your first month, you’ll:

Get to know how the Gfactor team and products work.

Study up on our brand, culture, design principles, and user research.

Understand the state of our tech and processes and identify all the things you need to be successful.

Deliver on a small project to get your hands dirty.
In your second month, you’ll:

Take a lead in the design of new driving experiences and training systems to go into the CoDriVR programme in schools.

Put detailed information into documents and structures so that engineers can create what you and the business team visualise.
In your third month and beyond, you’ll:

Work with our founder and business team to lay out the trajectory for the product.

Continue to develop the design system, including concepts, documentation and tools.

Further improve how you work across teams.
You’ll succeed as a Communications and UI Designer if you:

Have a demonstrated ability putting together design documents and/or information to provide clarity to software programmers and / or artists

Exhibit a strong understanding of UI and/or game mechanics
-
Have a willingness to adapt design style and thinking to align the programme requirements’

Possess a solid grounding in interactive digital development or products, preferably in 3D with VR as a bonus
-
Possess an ability to visualise a 3D interactive product before it exists
-
Have an understanding of user psychology, decision making, and skill development
-
Hold a New Zealand drivers licence

Live in Dunedin, or are willing to relocate
