About the Design Division

PikPok’s Design Division incorporates Game Design, Narrative, UX, Games User Research, Market Research and Audio

The purpose of the Design Division is to improve company revenue through designing highly engaging, entertaining and retaining games with systems that maximise the monetisation potential in the target audience.

We work closely and collaboratively with all other divisions to help achieve product, divisional and company goals.

About the Role

We are looking for an Experienced Game Designer to help create amazing play experiences that engage and entertain.

Ideal candidates have worked in the games industry and have first hand experience of the game development process from end-to-end. They will be enthusiastic about Free to Play games and have a solid understanding of compelling game loops and economies, balancing both company needs and player experience.

Experienced Game Designer is an intermediate level position. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills, be able to present to groups and work closely with other disciplines, showing autonomy and collaboration while being able to take and receive feedback with empathy. Over time, as they gain more experience they will be expected to take on more mentoring roles and will likely progress to become a senior designer.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of games, according to the goals and specifications of the project. Design responsibilities include, as needed:
    • Designing systems, progression, game loops, and monetisation
    • Designing mechanics, levels, and other gameplay content
    • Balancing the gameplay, progression, and economy for a strong free-to-play experience
  • Align with the project vision and take ownership of your design responsibilities.
  • Deliver the goals of the design division while collaborating well across all departments.
  • Be flexible and prepared to work on a variety of projects with a variety of needs.
  • Actively Support Health and Safety Initiatives in the Studio.

Requirements

  • 2+ years professional game design experience.
  • Skilled in Unity.
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite or Google Suite, particularly writing and flowchart tools.
  • Good understanding of the game development process.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong desire to learn and to collaborate.

Pluses

  • Experience with mobile games (specifically free to play games).
  • Familiarity with the Agile framework and philosophy.
  • Analytical & results driven with a strong drive to find out the why’s and the how’s.
  • Good ability to communicate patiently, enthusiastically and effectively with a range of people and disciplines.
  • An approachable, empathetic, and encouraging personality.

  • Other related experience, such as programming, UX/UI, mentoring, and more – tell us what you bring to the table
