Our Kumeu-based game development studio is seeking a motivated Junior Programmer with a passion for making games to join our team. You’ll join a successful team of like-minded individuals, each with a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from.

Our ideal candidate has a standout portfolio of projects that showcase solid game development comprehension, good technical skills, and strong collaboration with teammates.
Additionally, we’re looking for someone with both interest and experience developing games for consoles – if that’s you, please ensure this is clear in your CV and portfolio!
What you’ll do in this role:

  • Write clear, well-commented code
  • Work through assigned code tasks to implement and support game systems
  • Communicate potential blockers and solutions with the code team and team leaders
  • Work with mentors to upskill and extend your capabilities
  • Collaborate with the QA team to find and fix bugs
  • Join design discussions and share your unique perspective with the team

Skills and experience:

  • BSc, Bachelors or similar in a related IT field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong comprehension of at least one high-level language
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
  • Dedication to working in a professional, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Experienced console gamer with good current knowledge of industry standard controls, interfaces, and look and feel

Bonus Skills (not required but super valued):

  • Proficiency with git and GitHub
  • Unity development experience
  • Work experience in professional game development
  • Console development experience
