Mid/Senior Animator

NZ residency or work visa required

Artrix Limited is seeking an experienced Mid to Senior Animator to join our growing team of developers on some very exciting up and coming games!

The ideal candidate will have broad experience as an animator and is a patient, meticulous and confident team player. Ideally you have a strong art foundation, well-developed animation skills, a solid grasp of 3D software and an ability to communicate clearly with enthusiasm.

Teamwork and collaboration are vital in order to deliver a technically sound, visually appealing and fun product.

Our ideal candidate is a self-managed artist, with an ability to hold a long-term vision, and likes to have fun!

Job Description:

  • Great aesthetic eye to ensure top-notch, natural looking and stylised in-game animation;
  • Collaborates in the continual development and refinement of animation tools and art production pipeline;
  • Develop solutions that contribute to quality results within time and budget constraints;
  • Maintains awareness of the latest animation technologies, tools, and techniques;
  • Keep up to speed with current industry trends.


  • Must have 3+ years of professional animation experience;
  • Mastery of a least one standard 3D software such as Maya, 3DS Max, Motion Builder;
  • Good knowledge of Character rigging
  • Knowledge of Spine or other 2D animation software is a plus, but not necessary;
  • Solid grasp of all facets of animation: timing, staging, etc;
  • Solid understanding of technical guidelines/limitations inherent to real-time digital products;
  • Able to adapt to different animation style from cartoony to realistic;
  • Willingness to learn new software;
  • Solid knowledge of pipeline/workflow development;
  • Classical drawing skills appreciated;
  • Knowledge and experience using Unity (or other game engines).

Portfolio requirements:

  • A web portfolio that demonstrates a range of high-quality animation and any other relevant skills.
