Senior Lighting Artist

This role would suit someone who is an expert in real time and game lighting. You will need to have high technical skills with a strong sense of design and player direction.

 Skills and Requirements

  • Be able to light real-time levels, cinematic sequences, and trailers
  • Be able to identify and solve technical challenges: e.g. troubleshooting large scale scene files, rendering issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot materials for PBR compliance 
  • Must create and maintain probes for image-based lighting and reflections
  • Be able to set up scene lights to match color keys and concept art 
  • Create and maintain post fx (smoke, color correction, etc)
  • Be able to work closely with artists to make sure assets are set up for lighting
  • Must understand AAA, dramatic and open world lighting
  • Must be an expert in real time / games lighting
  • Must have creative eye and technical skills to enhance game environments
  • Be able to produce high quality lighting to support art direction, gameplay and overall vision
  • You must have a strong understanding of node-based shaders and how they relate to lighting
  • Be able to propose new ideas and methods to improve performance and technologies for lighting in the game engine
  • Must understand source control with Perforce or the equivalent
  • Good leadership skills and be able to train and mentor the team

 Experience needed:

  • Minimum of 5 years game development experience
  • Shipped games under their belt
  • Unreal Engine 4 experience is required
  • Strong understanding of Maya and Photoshop
  • Worked on AAA titles is required
  • Experience with open world lighting is a plus
  • Strong understanding of Quixel is a good plus
