We have an exciting new game about to start development! Two studios, M Theory & Oddboy, have collaborated to develop Wanderer – a virtual reality time-travel adventure game. We’re looking for a switched on technical artist to bring their flair and creativity to the team in beautiful and vibrant Auckland (NZ) for the duration of the 18-24 month project (with potential extension options). 

Our ideal candidate has a strong background with Unreal Engine specifically with Shading, Lighting, Scripts/Pipeline work, Optimization and Visual Effects (FX). Skills & Responsibilities

  • Look at performance and profiling data with programmers, then brainstorm and implement content optimizations.
  • Develop content guidelines and workflows to ensure best practices
  • Reducing scene complexity and Negotiating between art/code to find best compromises  
  • Solid understanding of shaders and material expressions.
  • Good understanding of scripting inside the Unreal engine with Blueprint.
  • Understanding of Physically Based Rendering (PBR) art pipelines for PS4, and PC.
  • Good understanding of lighting and VFX pipelines and optimization methods surrounding these within Unreal Engine.
