Kia ora,
Welcome to the kawerongo for June - a Matariki celebration!
Did you know that different forms of Matariki exist across many cultures, but our particular Matariki celebration is unique to Aotearoa New Zealand?
The Matariki principles of Remembrance, Celebrating the Present and Looking to the Future are inclusive of all peoples, and the traditional practice of returning home, reconnecting with your whānau and friends, and feasting make Matariki a holiday that all New Zealanders and manuhiri (visitors) to Aotearoa can embrace and celebrate. |

Kia ora,
Ngā mihi o matariki, te tau ho māori. Happy matariki everyone!
While maintaining the focus on NZGDC, Wellington Games Week, and securing international delegates; we continue to work on expanding networks, identifying opportunities for NZ game developers, and celebrating industry achievements for 2024.
As part of this strategy, we will be inviting studios to apply for one of 10 spots at the NZGDA stand during Spark Game Arena Live, the first event of it's type in NZ that expects to entertain around 8,000 attendees. You can read more about Spark Game Arena Live here. Spark Game Arena is sponsoring our pavilion to enable and support NZGDA members to exhibit their recently or soon-to-be released games to NZ gamers. More information about how to apply for the NZGDA pavilion will be shared soon.
We recently announced a partnership with Amazon offering NZGDA members exclusive pricing and credits on products and services. This partnership also provides NZGDA with a small income stream, which will fund travel grants for members in 2025. If you missed the webinar with details, check it out via the Member Hub video library.
I hope you have all enjoyed Matariki and have had the opportunity to journey home, spend time and share a meal with whānau and friends.
Ngā mihi nui,
Joy Keene, Executive Director |
