Kia ora Gina,
We are just 2 and a half months away from NZGDC and the inaugural Wellington Games Week.
Gina and I are excited to see Wellington transform into a hub of events showcasing the creativity, innovation, and community spirit of New Zealand’s game dev community.
From cutting-edge game showcases to insightful panels led by industry leaders, attendees will have the chance to connect, learn, and celebrate the diverse talent shaping the future of games in New Zealand.
Wellington Games Week focuses on educating the public about game development, providing learning opportunities for industry professionals, and signalling to international publishers and investors that Wellington Games Week and NZGDC are key events to meet NZ game developers en masse.
Read on as we highlight the key events and vibrant atmosphere that make this a must-attend for the game community!
Ngā mihi nui,

A week long programme that brings the NZ game industry and public together.
Spread across Wellington and kicking off with the one day GGWP Gaming Con, you'll be able to find an event to suit you. Would you like to meet with an international publisher, join a networking event to meet other devs, showcase your creativity at GGWP’s artist alley or spend the day learning? Well, now you can!
Here is a snapshot of just some of the events that have already been confirmed for Wellington Games Week. The WGW website and event listings will be published next week and launched through the NZGDA website, slack and social media channels.

New Zealand Game Developers Conference 2024 |
|
|
|
This year our theme ‘ Game Dev Evolution: from Past to Future revolves around the concept of evolution in game development.
We look to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first ever conference (held in 2004) by taking a retrospective look at the history of game and screen, and reflect on the remarkable journey the NZ industry has undertaken over the past two decades; while simultaneously exploring the exciting possibilities and innovations that lie ahead in the future. |
|
Visit the website and follow us on social media to get the latest updates and news on an engaging array of speakers, including industry leaders and innovators who will share their insights on the latest trends and challenges in the field; our panels that will feature thought-provoking discussions, covering a wide range of topics to inspire and inform attendees; the exhibitors in the kiwi interactive showcase, where talented developers will present their latest creations and interactive experiences.
Additionally, we’ll be hosting a dedicated Screen & Student Day, packed with opportunities for networking, learning, and exploration tailored for the next generation of creators.
Need accommodation while you're in town? No problem, check out the discounts we've sourced from some of Wellington's coolest hotels. What about discounts for delegates you ask? We got you! When the NZGDC event app launches, you'll be able to see special offers from sponsors and supporters, while saving your favourite speakers and building your own personalised programme!
