AMPLIFY: A Creative and Cultural Strategy for New Zealand

The Ministry for Culture and Heritage has drafted a strategy, Amplify, which was recently out for consultation (now closed).  Amplify sets out the government’s actions to boost creativity and culture in New Zealand.  It communicates the Government’s plan for prioritising decisions about how to work with, and support, the sectors’ development.  After an initial read, it’s clear that the strategy does not place much emphasis on the Game Development sector.

To gain a better understanding of the proposed strategy, Joy Keene, NZGDA Executive Director, attended both the information session and workshop held by the Ministry. Afterwards, Joy surveyed studio managers and other key industry individuals, as well as working closely with the NZGDA Board to craft a response from NZGDA.
